エンディングノート(Death of a Japanese Salaryman)

エンディングノートは　かなしくて、よかった　えいがです。その男にがんがあります。そして、私の父にがんもありました。私は　ともだちと　えいがに　みにいきました。そして、ともだちと　たくさんなきました。

Death of a Japanese Salaryman was a great movie! I really enjoyed watching it, especially since it featured several aspects of Japanese culture and mannerisms as well. Even though it was a short film, I really felt connected to the man and his family, especially since my own father had cancer (that was cured) a few years ago. While it was sad, it was a fantastic movie and I loved it!

サンクスギビングの休み

サンクスギビングの休みは　たのしくて、よかったですよ。うちに　かえりて、ゆっくりしました。でも、べんきょうしませんでした。

私は　かぞくと　ターキーを たべました。たべものは　おいしかったですよ。

わたし：そうですね。清水寺 (Kiyomizu-dera Temple)があります。そして、秋葉原 (Akihabara) がありますよ。

スミスさん: そうですか。清水寺は　どこに　ありますか。

わたし：えーと、京 (Kyoto)に　ありますよ。

スミスさん：そうですか。清水寺は　ゆうめいな　たてものですか？

わたし：ええ、ゆうめいです。そして、ふるいです。

スミスさん：秋葉原は　どんな　まちですか。

わたし：あのー、いい　まちです。でも、ちいさくありません。

スミスさん：そうですか。

インディアナしゅうのプリマスからきました。プリマスはサウスベンドのちかくです。

プリマスは とても　ちさいです。　そして、いいです。

プリマスは　ゆうめいじゃありません。　でも、きれいです。

わたしのうちは　しろいです。　そして、おおきいです。

境界の彼方

せんしゅうに　あたらしいのアニメの「きょうかいのかなた」　をみました。

Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary) is about a teenage boy named Akihito Kanbara, who is an immortal half youmu--the child of a human and a supernatural being--and a young girl named Mirai Kuriyama, who is the last surviving member of her family's spirit hunting clan. Akihito first meets Mirai as she stands on the edge of the school's roof, believing she is about to commit suicide. As he goes up to save her, however, she senses the supernatural presence within him and tries to kill him--and is shocked to find out she can't. After learning more about her, Akihito decides to help Mirai become stronger in order for her to be able to kill the spirits she hunts.

There is only one episode out so far, and the series is currently being subtitled, with new releases coming out every Wednesday.

(Just a warning: Mirai's ability is creating a sword out of her own blood, so if you're sensitive to blood, you might not want to watch this show.)

I based this blog's theme on one of my favorite anime, Fresh Pretty Cure.

It's a magical girl anime about three girls (the fourth member joins the group halfway through the show) who are given the ability to turn into Pretty Cures, superhero-like women who use their powers to defeat monsters born from ordinary everyday objects. Their enemy is a group named Labyrinth, who look to fill up the "misery gauge" in order to destroy the world.

Even though the Pretty Cure series (there are ten different seasons) are meant for children, particularly younger girls, the shows also have deeper undertones and wonderful lessons about life, friendship, and being yourself. It's the perfect show for me to watch whenever I'm down.

Intro Post

Why did I decide to take Japanese? There are a variety of reasons: first of all, I will admit my interest was first peaked when I began to read manga and watch anime, and I started falling in love with the language. I decided that it would not only be fun to learn it, but challenging.

I would also love to help out some of my online friends with translation work, as there are many comics that can not be read by people who know only English. In the future, I'd also love to visit Japan, and it would be rude not to know the language while visiting there.

I'm extremely excited for this class! While the no-English policy frightens me a bit, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it quickly, as I already know several words and phrases. I can't wait to piece together what I know into actual sentences and conversations! I've also wanted to learn a foreign language for some time now, so this is perfect.
